SWOAEYC Supports Farm to School

Posted on: April 28, 2018

The National Farm to School Network is an information, advocacy and networking hub for communities working to bring local food sourcing, school gardens and food and agriculture education into schools and early care and education settings. This group held its 9th biennial conference in Cincinnati, OH on April 25-27. Southwest Ohio AEYC was there!

The National Farm to School Network represents a diverse group of stakeholders and fosters a culture of food and agricultural literacy across America. NAEYC is exploring ways to partner with the group. This led to an invitation for Southwest Ohio AEYC provide a vendor table at the conference in Cincinnati.

Here we promoted NAEYC and state affiliate membership to visitors from 22 states and British Columbia. We displayed children’s books with attention to diversity that highlighted the farm to home message. We also raffled five books with winners living in California, Washington, DC, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Louisiana.

We distributed 101 bibliographies that included the books on display and many more.  You can download the bibliography here.
