SWOAEYC Supports 4C Conference

Southwest Ohio AEYC was pleased to sponsor a Power to the Profession Panel Discussion at the 4C Leadership and Early Childhood Conference.  The panel was moderated by Jocelyn Tozier, Director of Indian Hill Church Nursery School and President of Southwest Ohio AEYC, and featured five early childhood professionals:

Dr. Valora Washington, CEO, The Council for Professional Recognition
Dr. Washington is passionate about the people who work with and for young children and is committed to action research and policy change. Leading the Council is deeply connected to the work she cares most about: advancing and professionalizing the field of early childhood education. Dr. Washington was the conference Saturday keynote speaker.

Dr. Helene Harte, Associate Professor, University of Cincinnati
Helene has worked in the community as a classroom teacher, center director, coach, content expert and consultant. Her research interests include family engagement, engagement of young children in inclusive settings, culturally responsive practices, and engagement of students in the college classroom.

Jayne Bey, Professional Type B Family Child Care Provider, State of Ohio
Jayne has been a family child care provider in Dayton since 1997. She holds a bachelor's degree in Early Advocacy and Leadership in Early Childhood Education. Jayne is a provider of a 5-star rated program and partners with Head Start. She is passionate about giving children experiences in nature and operates her program as a connect-to-nature school.

Isabella Frueh, Lead Teacher, Cincinnati Early Learning Centers
Bella received her Master of Arts in International Child Studies from King’s College London and studied varied applications of children’s rights between countries. Bella has worked with children in various settings for eleven years. She is even more enthusiastic about coaching others to support children’s learning in respectful ways.

Dr. William Mosier, Professor, Wright State University
Dr. Mosier is the Director of Research at the Lynda A. Cohen Center for the Study of Child Development and is a licensed Independent Marriage & Family Therapist in Dayton, Ohio. He was an ECE classroom teacher for 20 years and also served 20 years in the military as an International Health Specialist. He sees his most important role as a husband and father.

Southwest Ohio AEYC also awarded six, one-day scholarships (an $85.00 value) to standard and premium members to attend the 4C Leadership and Early Childhood Conference!  Two (2) scholarships were awarded in each of our service regions: Greater Cincinnati, Greater Dayton, and Columbus.
