Dayton Mayor Proclaims Month of the Young Child

Posted on: March 30, 2019

The Month of the Young Child (MOYC) highlights the importance of families, early childhood professionals, and communities working together to support every child’s healthy development and early learning.  Dayton Chapter of Southwest Ohio AEYC celebrates MOYC locally while nationally the Week of the Young Child is April 8-12 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  Visit www.naeyc.org/woyc for more information.

To celebrate this year, the Dayton Chapter of SWOAEYC sponsored Safe on Saturday, an event celebrating our youngest learners, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Dayton Metro Library's Main Library.  The event was sponsored by Southwest Ohio AEYC, Dayton Children's Hospital, Dayton Metro Library, and The Lynda A. Cohen Center for the Study of Child Development.

Mayor Nan Whaley presented a Proclamation to Lois Keil, Dr. William Mosier, Susan Hampel, and Chad Nunamaker of the SWOAEYC Dayton Chapter, Abbey Rymarczyk of Dayton Children's Hospital, and Kathleen Moore of Dayton Metro Library.

Children and families enjoyed storytelling from Theresa Callen, Dayton Metro Librarian.  Music education and entertainment was provided by Chris Rowland, Outreach Environmental Education Specialist followed by Music & Movement with Kennedy Lynch.

The event was a great success and enjoyed by many young children and their families!  See you at next year's event!
